BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport men's soccer team hits the road for a pair of SUNYAC matchups this weekend. The team first lines up on Friday against Oneonta at 3 pm and then again Saturday at 1 pm versus New Paltz.
Their Last Outing:Â The Golden Eagles last took the field for a battle with Fredonia.
Matthew Stefaniw put the team up early in the game, scoring his seventh goal of the season.
Nolan Byrnes was credited with the assist on the score. Fredonia would tie the game up from a penalty kick in the 86
th minute to send it to overtime. After 110 minutes of play, a 1-1 tie was finally recorded as neither team found the back of the net again. Brockport now holds a record of 6-6-2 overall and 1-4-1 in the SUNYAC.

Team Statistics:Â Brockport has outscored its opponents 27-17 this year and has placed over 50% of its shots on goal. Four different players have 10 or more points this season, led by Stefaniw with 19. He also leads the team in goals, assists and total shots on goal. Both of the senior goalkeepers,
Tautis Poniskaitis and
Joseph Romano, have seen action this year to combine for 43 saves and three shutouts.Â
Oneonta Scouting Report:Â The Red Dragons currently hold a record of 12-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play. They are the only team to have already clinched a playoff position and also sit at the top of the SUNYAC standings. Oneonta is led offensively by senior Witman Hernandez who has 31 points, which is 38% of his team's points total. Hernandez leads Oneonta in almost every statistical category and has points in 11 of the 13 games played. The goalkeepers have been utilized in a pretty even split, Nate Hanna seeing seven starts compared to Francesco Scotti's six. Oneonta is currently on a seven-game winning streak heading into the weekend.
New Paltz Scouting Report:Â The Hawks currently hold a record of 8-5 overall and 2-3 against SUNYAC opponents. They sit just two spots ahead of Brockport in the conference standings. The last time the two teams met was in the 2018 SUNYAC semifinals, which saw Brockport move on to the championship after a 2-0 win. Stefaniw had both goals for the Golden Eagles and goalkeeper
Tautis Poniskaitis captured the shutout with three saves. New Paltz is currently led by James Maites and Kevin Doorley who both have recorded 14 points. Marc DePasquale has shined at goalkeeper with 12 games started and five shutouts.
What's Next:Â After this weekend, Brockport has just two more regular season games left on the schedule. They will take on Houghton at home for a non-conference matchup on Oct. 23 at 7 pm and then finish the season with a bout versus Geneseo on Oct. 26 at 1 pm on the road.
