Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport women's soccer team dominated New Paltz at home on Saturday, winning 5-0. Brockport advances to 10-5-1 overall with a 6-2 mark in the conference and clinch a spot in the 2019 SUNYAC Tournament.
The Golden Eagles have six conference wins now this season, the most since 2012. With 10 wins now overall, Head Coach
Mike Idland sets a new single season high in wins as the leader of the program.
The Green and Gold got it going early with three first half scores.
Brylie Hapeman,
Kiley Longin, and
Camryn Pettit all found the back of the net in the opening half. Pettit also tallied an assist in the first half. Brockport held a comfortable 3-0 advantage going into halftime.
As the second half of play began, the Golden Eagles picked up right where they left off. Longin would score less than two minutes into play resuming, with Pettit notching a second assist and
Taylor Eccleston also helping on the goal.
Molly Zientek would cap off the game with a goal in the 78
th minute, giving Brockport its final lead of 5-0.
Saturday's victory marks four in a row for Brockport and moves the team into second place in the SUNYAC standings. Longin has now scored a goal in four straight games, while Pettit has recorded five assists in the last three games.
Kayla Usborne started in net for the Green and Gold, making five saves during her time in net. Senior
Kimberly Lubanski took over goalkeeping duties to complete the match, coming up with one save to help secure the shutout.
The Golden Eagles are back at home on Tuesday for a step outside of SUNYAC play, as Elmira comes to town. The match is set to begin at 3:30 pm.
