BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team added another win to the books Wednesday night, putting them one step close to a double-digit win season, beating out Elmira College in a 1-0 matchup.
The Golden Eagles dominated the field from the start, outshooting the Soaring Eagles 16-1 through the first two quarters while forcing opposing goalie Tina O'Donnell to record eight saves.
Bailey Lazore and
Katelynn Mello provided the offensive push the Golden Eagles needed to break things open, notching three shots on goal apiece until Mello was able to find the back of the net to put the Green and Gold on the board.
The Soaring Eagles offense kicked into gear in the second half but the strong effort by
Cara Fox and the Green and Gold defense held them scoreless. Fox recorded seven total saves on the night while facing six penalty corner attempts to improve her overall save percentage to .833. The Golden Eagles closed out the night with 24 total shots and 15 on goal while recording six different players recording offensive stats.
With win number seven behind them, the Golden Eagles are back in action this Saturday where they will resume conference play against New Paltz on home turf at 1 p.m.
