BROCKPORT, N.Y.- The College at Brockport's undergraduate sports management program has been recognized as the eighth best program in the country within affordable selective colleges. Sports-management-degrees.com ranked the top 50 schools offering a bachelor's degree in sports management, who also accepted less than 60 percent of applicants. Other deciding factors consisted of the net tuition rate, student-faculty ratio and retention rate.
Located within the department of kinesiology, sports studies and physical education, Brockport's sports management major of study is designed to prepare students to manage and administer sports at all levels. The course is concerned with instilling a comprehensive set of skills to help students in all aspects of the sports management industry including marketing, fundraising, finance, facilities, and research. Other portions of the curriculum include educating learners about societal, ethical, and philosophical perspectives related to sport, as well as examining employee and athlete behavior within sport organizations.
The field of sports management is growing vastly and with it, the interest of up and coming students. Obtaining a career within the industry is now more competitive than ever, and graduation from a reputable program is quickly becoming a vital accomplishment when hoping to secure a future role within a sports organization.
