Volleyball Clinches Second Seed with 3-1 Win Over Cortland

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The College at Brockport volleyball team clinched the second seed heading into the SUNYAC tournament Saturday afternoon in a dominating 3-1 win over SUNY Cortland. The Golden Eagles found themselves at a quick deficit after set one but didn't let that dictate their game plan, allowing them to gain momentum through the next three. Brockport has earned a first round bye in the SUNYAC Tournament and will travel to top-seeded Geneseo on Friday, Nov. 8 to take on the first round winner of No. 3 Cortland and No. 6 Oswego.

How It Happened:

The team then put up a consistent 13 kills through the second and third and sealed the deal with 11 in set four for a total 51 kills on the day.

Meaghan Mastro was lights out in front of the net, notching 18 kills and only five errors for a strong .371 hitting percentage against a high-powered Red Dragons defense. The junior also added some key defense for the Golden Eagles, posting 10 digs and two block assists.

The Golden Eagles also saw strength from Lindsey Luce and Elena Grossman who combined for 18 kills, with Luce adding three assists of her own.  Both player's ability to defend the net proved valuable to the Green and Gold's success as well, Luce recording a block assists and Grossman adding both a block assist and a solo block.
