BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The recently No. 10 regionally ranked College at Brockport volleyball team gave the No. 2 regionally ranked Clarkson only their fifth loss all season and second straight loss Friday night in a four-set matchup. The battle of the Green and Gold consistently weighed in Brockport's favor, as the Golden Eagles offense came ready to play from the very start.
Brockport commanded the first two sets 25-17 and 25-22, entering the third set with 28 total kills and only 10 errors between them. The Golden Knights offense gave the Golden Eagles a run for their money in the third set notching 14 kills and only two errors, allowing them to pick up their first win of the night 25-20. Brockport took back control in the fourth set with another commanding 25-17 finish, posting another 15 kills and their strongest hitting percentage of the night at even .300.
Meaghan Mastro was lights out in front of the net for the Golden Eagles, recording a career-high 22 kills and only three errors for a .528 hitting percentage. The junior also added two service aces, a block and 12 digs for a total 25 points on the night.
Lindsey Luce was another major offensive asset for the Golden Eagles, adding 14 kills of her own, two assists and two blocks.
Ellen Paddock had a busy night in the back row, recording 38 total digs.
The Golden Eagles are back in action tomorrow for another full day of volleyball, with two matches against St. Lawrence University and St. John Fisher College, where the team will honor its four senior classmen.
