Crucial SUNYAC Weekend Ahead for Women's Tennis

Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport women's tennis team enters its final weekend of regular season play, for a full set of SUNYAC action. The team will face Plattsburgh on Friday, Oneonta Saturday, and New Paltz Sunday.

Big Trip to Binghamton: All matches played this weekend will take place at the Binghamton Tennis Center in Binghamton, NY. Friday's match starts at 1 pm, Saturday's begins at 3 pm, and Sunday's start time is 12 pm. This SUNYAC action filled weekend will finalize the conference standings to decide seeding for the conference tournament which starts on October 12th.

Last Time Out: This past weekend the Golden Eagles split the two matches with a win and a loss. They defeated Oswego, 9-0, on Friday before falling to Cortland, 3-6, on Saturday. The team is now 5-4 overall and 1-3 in SUNYAC competition.

Conference Picture: Only two teams have clinched a spot in the SUNYAC tournament so far, with Geneseo and New Paltz both having a 4-0 mark in conference play. Brockport's 1-3 record against SUNYAC opponents puts the team behind in the standings, but it has not been mathematically eliminated from contention. The Green and Gold need a big weekend to sneak up and snatch a spot in the tournament.

Scouting Plattsburgh: The Cardinals are 5-5 overall and 1-3 in conference play so far this season. The team is 1-3 in its last four game, most recently falling to Oneonta, 7-2, on the road. Plattsburgh is currently on the outside looking in, still looking for a chance to fight for a spot in the SUNYAC tournament.

Scouting Oneonta: Oneonta has fared well this season, with an overall record of 8-3 to go with a 3-1 mark in the SUNYAC. The Red Dragons most recently fell to St. Lawrence, 7-2, in a non-conference match. The team will come up against Fredonia on Friday before taking on Brockport.

Scouting New Paltz: New Paltz is 4-1 overall with an undefeated 4-0 record against SUNYAC opponents. It is one of two teams to already clinch a spot in the conference tournament, and is now fighting for the top seed. The Hawks will face Geneseo and Fredonia down in Binghamton this weekend before Sunday's matchup against Brockport.

What's Ahead: With this weekend bringing the regular season to a close, the Golden Eagles will be in a win or go home scenario. Depending on the results from the upcoming matches, Brockport will either end its season on Sunday, or earn a spot in the SUNYAC tournament that begins on October 12th.
