FIELD HOCKEY OPENS THE WEEK AGAINST THE YELLOWJACKETS

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team welcomes the University of Rochester Yellow Jackets to Dr. Linda Arena and Class of '69 Field Hockey Venue after a tough 3-0 loss to conference opponent SUNY New Paltz on Saturday.

Dominant New Paltz Offense: The Golden Eagles couldn't hold off the former SUNYAC Champions offense on Saturday as they battled to find opportunities. For much of the first half, the Green and Gold were able to keep the Hawks at a standstill, posting 12 saves and allowing only one goal. The Hawks continued to chip away in the second half, notching two more goals to improve their lead to three. Despite finding themselves at a deficit, the Golden Eagles offense continued to find opportunities in front of the net but struggled to find the back of the net against the Hawks goalkeeper. Bailey Lazore, Renee Lauer, Katie Ziemba and Alyssa Fuccillo fought to break things open for the Golden Eagles, each recording a shot on goal throughout the game.

Strength As A Whole: The Golden Eagles are currently 0-2 in conference play but could easily change their luck around with the numbers they are collectively producing within the league. The team currently ranks second overall in goals (33) and assists (26), fourth in goals against average (1.60), first in defensive saves (11) and third overall in save percentage (.806).

Individual Success: Meaghan Lurz, Bella Addesa, Emma Acevedo, Ziemba and Fox individually find themselves as part of the cream of the crop. On the offensive end, Lurz and Ziemba still hold their spot amongst the top five; Lurz tied for third in goals (7) and Ziemba tied for second in assists (6). Both athletes rank in total points as well holding the sixth and third spot respectively. Fox, in addition to the help of Addesa and Acevedo, make up a strong defensive effort for the Golden Eagles. Fox currently ranks third overall in the SUNYAC in save percentage (.831) with the help of Addesa (4) and Acevedo (3) who rank second and third in defensive saves.

Last Time They Met: The Yellow Jackets grabbed a 4-0 win over the Golden Eagles at the beginning of the 2018 season, not allowing them to record a single shot on goal against them. The Yellow Jackets provided a consistent offensive effort notching two goals in each half, three of which were by sophomore Amanda Strenk. The Golden Eagles haven't recorded a win against the Yellow Jackets since the 2008 season.

What To Expect: The Yellow Jackets are averaging three goals per game, with senior Catherine Hauser leading the way with eight goals and an assist through twelve games. Hauser and Strenk are a dynamic offensive duo, accounting for 15 of the teams 33 goals.

The Golden Eagles are back in action against Morrisville on the road on Friday at 6 p.m., where they look to pick up their first conference win of the season.
