York, PA -- Nationally-ranked No. 23 Brockport wrestling sits in a tie for seventh place with 21 teams points following day one of the New Standard Corporation Invitational hosted by York College on Friday afternoon. Brockport has five wrestlers remaining in championship contention following day one. Saturday's competition will begin at 9:30 am on campus in York, Pennsylvania.

Matt Caccamise won his first match of the weekend after earning a first round bye. He topped Romeo Rodriguez by way of a 9-3 decision to advance to Saturday's quarterfinal match against Justin Lopez from Johnson & Wales.
Richard Knapp kept his unbeaten streak alive at 285 as he topped John Couglan of Merchant Marine, 2-0 in the Round of 16. Knapp's first period takedown proved to be all he would need to secure the victory. Knapp will now take on Russ Pierce from Apprentice in Saturday's quarterfinals.
Elijah Sims won a tight fifth period decision with an escape at the 14 second marker to take home a 7-6 win over Tristan Haviland of Roger Williams in the round of 16 (141 lb weight class). Sims will now square off against Brandon Woody of Averett in Saturday's quarterfinals.
Austin Reed earned a 6-2 decision over Elizabethtown's Luke Moynihan in the round of 16 in the 149 lb weight class. Reed will now take on Stevens Institute of Technology's Brett Kaliner in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
Chris Eames (174) won his first match of the night by way of a 3-0 decision over David McElravy to advance to the round of 16. Eames came up short in the round of 16 against Cortland's Demitreus Henry, falling via a 5-2 decision.
Joe Yanis (184) won a convincing 15-6 major decision over Merchant Marine's Sam Houston to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals. Yanis will take on Austin Williams of Delaware Valley.
