BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Behind a strong second-half effort, The College at Brockport women's lacrosse team defeated Montclair State Saturday afternoon, by a score of 13-9. With the win, the Golden Eagles move to 4-1 on the season, while the Red Hawks fall to 4-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED –
- The contest was a closely contested battle, with both teams trading a set of goals to open the half.
- The Heather Conklin to Sara Grapevine connection worked for the first pair of goals, with Conklin netting the first off a Grapevine set up, and the two trading roles for the second score as the Green and Gold tied the contest with 14:48 to play in the half.
- Brockport would see the Red Hawks add a pair of scores, but Victoria Thompson halted the Montclair run with a goal at the nine-minute mark.
- The Golden Eagles saw their counterparts add another pair of goals, but Chloe Kurst worked in a Grapevine set up to close the half, as the Green and Gold headed into the break trailing 6-4.
- Brockport came out of the break strong, netting back-to-back goals in the opening minute of the frame to tie the contest at 6-6.
- Kurst and Thompson each added their second goals of the contest, with Thompson taking advantage of a free position attempt.
- The Brockport scoring continued, with Allison Jennings picking up her first score of the day on a Grapevine pass, followed by Hannah Cullen's first score on the day at the 21:34 mark for the 8-6 lead.
- The Red Hawks brought the game back within one moments later but Conklin buried her second of the night to push the Green and Gold ahead by two.
- Brockport allowed the Red Hawks to bring the game within one once more, but followed the oppositions score with a three-goal run.
- Conklin and Kurst completed the hattrick while Grapevine tabbed her second goal of the game.
- The two team's traded scores to end the half, Jennings tallied the last Brockport Score.
KEY STATISTICS –
- Heather Conklin (3g's-1a) picked up her 100th Career goal in the win while extending her goal-scoring streak to five games.
- Chloe Kurst picked up her second hattrick, tallying three goals in back to back games.
- Sarah Grapevine (2g's-4a) lead the charge with six points on the day.
- Jillian Babinsky lead the Brockport defense causing five opposition turnovers.
- The Golden Eagles outshot the Red Hawks 30-18.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, March 27 when they travel to Oswego State for their first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchup. The midweek game is set to start at 4 p.m.
