Golden Eagles Pick Up First Win Of 2019 SUNYAC Campaign

BROCKPORT, N.Y. –The College at Brockport women's lacrosse team defeated Oswego State Wednesday afternoon, by a score of 16-9. With the win, the Golden Eagles start the 2019 SUNYAC campaign 1-0 and move to 5-1 overall, while the Lakers fall to 4-2 and 1-1 in the SUNYAC.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – 
 
  • The Golden Eagles came out firing on all cylinders, scoring three goals in the first 10 minutes of the game.
  • Allison Jennings got the Green and Gold started, scoring at the five-minute mark of the half, while Jade Williams and Sara Grapevine added back to back scores.
  • Oswego broke the Brockport attack with a goal of their own at 19:26.
  • Brockport responded with three more tallies, pushing their lead to five goals after scores from Chloe Kurst, Sara Grapevine and Julie Carballo.
  • The Lakers added a pair of scores to narrow the Golden Eagles lead to three.
  • The Golden Eagles finished the half strong, picking up a pair of scores.
  • Victoria Thompson picked up the Golden Eagles seventh goal, while Jennings picked up the eighth of the game off a feed from the stick of Grapevine.
  • Brockport started the second-half the same as the first, adding a trio of goals in the first ten minutes.
  • Hannah Cullen opened the floodgates on a free possession shot, followed by goals from Thompson and Kurst.
  • Oswego stopped the three-goal run with a pair of scores.
  • The Golden Eagles battled back with goals from Thompson and Cullen.
  • The Lakers were able to pick up another score but the Green and Gold added three more to follow.
  • Williams picked up the 14th score after a feed from Jennings, followed by Cullen completing the hattrick, and Heather Conklin adding a tally to extend the Brockport lead to 16-6.
  • The Lakers added three goals to end the game, 16-9.
