BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's lacrosse team fell to SUNY Oneonta Saturday afternoon, by a score of 11-6. With the loss, the Golden Eagles move to 4-4 on the season and 0-1 in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), while the Red Dragons move to 6-5 overall and 1-0 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED –
- The Golden Eagles fell behind early as the Red Dragons scored the first tally. Max Riley responded for the Green and Gold, knotting the game at one-goal apiece.
- The Red Dragons picked up back-to-back scores following the Riley tally.
- Liam O'Connor brought the Golden Eagles back within one with the assists awarded to Patrick Sheridan.
- The Red Dragons added another score to start the second quarter.
- The Golden Eagles responded with a man-up goal from the stick of Sheridan to bring the score to 4-3.
- Brockport allowed three unanswered goals to end the first half trailing, 7-3.
- Brockport snagged a quick score off the opening face-off to start the second half.
- Ethan Stiles passed the ball to Billy Coppola who netted the first goal of the half.
- Oneonta responded with back-to-back scores.
- Corey Choberka ripped one past the oppositions net-minder to end the third quarter trailing, 9-5.
- O'Connor scored the Golden Eagles sixth of the game off a fast break pass from Ethan Stiles.
- The Red Dragons added two goals to end the frame.
KEY STATISTICS –
- Brockport out-shot the Red Dragons 42-38.
- The Golden Eagles won the ground ball battle with 27 on the day.
- Ethan Stiles went 16-for-20 on face-offs.
- Sheridan, Coppola, and O'Connor all had two points on the day.
