BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's lacrosse team fell to Oswego State Saturday afternoon, by a score of 11-8. With the loss, the Golden Eagles move to 4-5 on the season and 0-2 in conference, while the Lakers move to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play.
HOW IT HAPPENED –
- The two teams traded a goal apiece to start the first quarter. The Lakers jumped out with a one-goal lead but Brockport's Owen Van Wie knotted the game at 1-1 after a feed from Rocco Santillo.
- Oswego added another goal to end the first quarter ahead, 2-1.
- Brockport fell into a deeper hole to start the second quarter as the Lakers netted two scores to start the frame.
- Nick Daigle brought the Golden Eagles back within two goals with five minutes remaining in the quarter.
- The Lakers picked up another tally to end the half leading, 5-2.
- Brockport netted back-to-back scores to start the second half.
- Corey Choberka and Patrick Sheridan accounted for the Brockport tallies.
- The Lakers responded with five goals in a row.
- Kieran Fitzgerald added another Brockport goal to end the third quarter trailing, 10-5.
- Brockport outscored the Lakers 3-1 in the fourth quarter but it wouldn't be enough to mount the comeback.
- The Golden Eagle's goals came from Jack Peterson, Jacob Recor, and Liam O'Connor.
KEY STATISTICS –
- Brockport scored eight goals from eight different goal-scorers.
- Jack Peterson and Owen Van Wie picked up their first collegiate goals.
- Brockport out shot the Lakers 25-16.
- The Golden Eagles won the ground ball battle 25-21.
- Brockport was one-for-three on man-up attempts.
