BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's lacrosse team picked up their first win in 2019, downing Keuka College Saturday afternoon, by a score of 14-10. With the win, the Golden Eagles move to 1-2 on the season, while the Wolves fall to 2-1 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED –
- Brockport jumped out to an early two-goal lead in the first quarter with scores from Ethan Stiles and Nick Daigle.
- Keuka brought the game within one with five minutes remaining in the first, but Billy Coppola extended the Brockport lead to 3-1 to end the quarter.
- Brendan Halleran built on the Golden Eagles advantage to start the second quarter, with Keuka sneaking in a score at 9:34 to make the count 4-2.
- The Brockport offense responded with back to back goals from Daigle and Jacob Recor.
- Keuka went on a three-goal run, but the Golden Eagles added a pair of scores from Liam O'Connor and Halleran to close the half with a 7-5 advantage.
- Brockport came out of the break strong behind a four-goal run, featuring scores from Recor, Peter Scavone, and a pair from Corey Choberka to push out to an 11-5 lead.
- Keuka added three goals to close the frame, but Brian McGreevy and Jahadi Prior added goals to close the third quarter, lifting the Green and Gold 14-8.
- Keuka netted two more goals in the fourth quarter to end the game, 14-10.
KEY STATISTICS –
- Coppola scored his team leading fifth goal of the season, extending his scoring streak to three games.
- Halleran (2g's-1a), O'Connor (1g-2a's), and Choberka (2g's-1a) all finish with three points on the day.
- Aidan Fitzgerald led the defense with three caused turnovers.
- John Felice picked up his first NCAA win in net with 11 saves on the day.
