BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's lacrosse team lost a nail-biter Saturday afternoon, falling to SUNY Potsdam, by a score of 5-4. With the loss, the Golden Eagles move to 4-6 on the season and 0-3 in conference, while the Bears improve to 4-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED –
- The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early two-goal lead in the first quarter as Jacob Recor netted the first tally on a man-up opportunity.
- The second Brockport goal came off the stick of Corey Choberka with the assist to Brendan Halleran.
- The Bears put together back-to-back tallies to knot the game at two.
- Liam O'Connor netted the third Brockport goal to retake the lead at the end of the first quarter.
- The Bears picked up two tallies to start the second quarter, their fourth goal coming on a man-up opportunity.
- Patrick Sheridan tied the game at four goals apiece, scoring the only goal for either team in the third quarter.
- The Bears found their game-winning fifth-goal eleven minutes into the fourth quarter.
- Brockport's defense came up big with forty seconds remaining in the game, causing a turnover for one last scoring opportunity but the Bears net-minder shut the door.
KEY STATISTICS –
- Brockport out-shot the Bears 26-11.
- The Golden Eagles went 22-of-27 on clearing attempts, while also winning the ground ball battle 42-29.
- O'Connor lead the offense with a goal and an assist on the day.
