BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's lacrosse team defeated Alfred University Tuesday afternoon, by a score of 9-8. With the win, the Golden Eagles move to 5-6 on the season, while the Saxons fall to 8-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED –
- The Golden Eagles fell into a three-goal deficit in the first quarter as the Saxons picked up the only tallies of the frame.
- Brockport surged back in the second quarter, adding three goals of their own to knot the game.
- Lars Roos got the Golden Eagles started in the second quarter, scoring off a feed from Owen Van Wie.
- Liam O'Connor brought Brockport within one after a pass from Jack Peterson, and Billy Coppola tied the score after a set-up from Corey Choberka.
- The Saxons broke the tie in the dying seconds of the second quarter to send the Golden Eagles into the half-time break trailing, 4-3.
- Brockport fell behind by two-goals to start the second half as the Saxons scored 45 seconds into the frame.
- Patrick Sheridan brought the Green and Gold back within one with seven minutes remaining in the third quarter.
- Brockport tied the game with three minutes to go in the third quarter, the goal came from the stick of Jack Peterson.
- The Saxons got on the board first in the fourth quarter, pulling ahead once more.
- Brockport answered with back-to-back goals to regain the lead.
- Choberka snagged the equalizer, while Brendan Halleran gave Brockport the go-ahead.
- Brockport allowed their lead to slip once more as the Saxons tied the game at seven with 10-minutes remaining.
- Patrick Sheridan beat a few Saxon defenders and fired a shot past the oppositions net-minder, allowing Brockport to regain the lead with nine minutes to go.
- Billy Coppola added another Brockport tally to pull away by two goals.
- The Saxons found a late score to bring the game back within one.
- Brockport's defense made a huge stop in the dying minutes to get the win.
