BROCKPORT, N.Y. –The College at Brockport women's lacrosse team defeated SUNY Oneonta Saturday afternoon, by a score of 18-7. With the win, the Golden Eagles move to 11-1 overall and 6-0 in conference, while the Red Dragons fall to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play.
HOW IT HAPPENED –
- Brockport fell behind early as the Red Dragons netted the first goal at 1:27 of the first half.
- The Golden Eagles stormed back, scoring four goals in a row within the first ten minutes.
- Victoria Thompson picked up the first goal, followed by Hannah Cullen, Jade Williams, and Julie Carballo.
- Oneonta picked up another score at 10:55 of the first to bring the game back within three-goals.
- Brockport responded quickly, adding three more scores as Conklin tallied two and Cullen picked up her second of the day.
- The Red Dragons added two more scores at the 24 minute-mark, with one goal coming on a man-up opportunity.
- Allison Jennings added one more tally for the Green and Gold to close out the half leading, 8-4.
- The Golden Eagles added three scores to start the second half.
- Sara Grapevine got the Green and Gold started, followed by tallies from Conklin and Williams.
- The Red Dragons picked up another goal 12-minutes into the half to narrow the score to 11-5.
- The two foes traded scores half-way through the second frame, Chloe Kurst was the Brockport goal-scorer.
- Brockport finished out the half with three more goals, Conklin added two, while Erin Wegrzyn tallied her first of the day.
KEY STATISTICS –
- The Golden Eagles stay unbeaten in SUNYAC play, while extending their winning streak to eight games.
- The Golden Eagles out-shot their opponent 34-14.
- Conklin lead the charge with six goals and two assists on the day for eight points.
- Lyndsie Pratt won six ground ball battles, while also adding three caused turnovers.
