BROCKPORT, N.Y. –The No. 25 College at Brockport women's lacrosse team fell to SUNY Geneseo Wednesday afternoon in a battle of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) unbeaten's, by a score of 13-11. With the loss, the Golden Eagles move to 11-2 overall and 6-1 in conference, while the Knights move to 10-4 overall and 6-0 in SUNYAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED –
- Heather Conklin got the Green and Gold started, scoring her 45th goal of the season to put the Golden Eagles up by one.
- The Knights stormed back, picking up three scores over a two-minute span.
- Jade Williams brought the Golden Eagles back within one at 19:33 of the frame.
- Geneseo responded with four tallies.
- Brockport picked up the last goal of the half as Sara Grapevine snagged her 20th goal of the season after a feed from Chloe Kurst.
- Brockport entered the half-time break trailing, 7-3.
- The Golden Eagles stormed out of the gates to start the second-half, scoring three goals in a seven-minute span.
- Grapevine picked up the first two tallies, while Conklin brought the Green and Gold back within one.
- Geneseo responded with back-to-back goals to extend their lead to three.
- Brockport fought back, scoring two back-to-back goals of their own. Victoria Thompson picked up the Golden Eagles seventh goal, while Conklin buried a man-up goal to narrow the Knights lead to one.
- Geneseo added three more goals to pull away once more.
- Jade Williams scored for the Golden Eagles with 5:36 remaining in the half to narrow the score to 12-9, but Geneseo responded a minute later.
- The Golden Eagles began to mount a comeback in the last four minutes as Chloe Kurst and Heather Conklin scored to bring the score to 13-11, but the Knights were able to make a defensive stand to get the win.
