BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's lacrosse team fell to SUNY Cortland Saturday afternoon, by a score of 15-7. With the loss, the Golden Eagles move to 5-7 on the season and 0-4 in conference, while the Red Dragons improve to 10-4 and 4-0 in SUNYAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED –
- The Golden Eagles fell into a two-goal deficit in the first quarter as the Red Dragons picked up the only tallies of the frame.
- The Red Dragons added two more scores to start the second quarter.
- Brendan Halleran responded for the Green and Gold with 12:28 remaining in the quarter.
- Cortland finished the half with four unanswered goals.
- The Golden Eagles headed into the half-time break trailing, 8-1.
- Brockport allowed four more Cortland tallies to start the third quarter.
- Nick Daigle picked up the Golden Eagles second of the game with eight minutes remaining in the quarter but Cortland responded with one more before the time expired.
- Brockport allowed a goal to start the fourth quarter but responded with back-to-back tallies.
- Brockport's goals came from Jack Peterson and Billy Coppola.
- The Red Dragons added one more goal to bring the score to 15-4.
- Brockport closed out the frame with three unanswered goals.
- Halleran picked up his second of the night, followed by scores from Owen Van Wie, and Jacob Recor.
KEY STATISTICS –
- Brockport outshot the Red Dragons 27-26.
- The Golden Eagles were 24-26 on clearing attempts.
- Halleran led the offense with two goals on the day.
- Dallas Whitney caused three turnovers.
