Golden Eagles Bounce Back Against Hawks

BROCKPORT, N.Y. –The No. 25 College at Brockport women's lacrosse team got back to their winning ways Saturday afternoon as they defeated SUNY New Paltz, by a score of 17-8. With the win, the Golden Eagles move to 12-2 overall and 7-1 in conference, while the Hawks move to 8-6 overall and 4-4 in SUNYAC play.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – 
 
  • The Golden Eagles got off to a slow start as they trailed the Hawks 2-0 after the first seven minutes of play.
  • Brockport stormed back, picking up nine goals in a row.
  • Jade Williams got the Golden Eagles started, followed by Allison Jennings.
  • Chloe Kurst made it three goals for Brockport, followed by Hannah Cullen and then back-to-back scores from Heather Conklin.
  • Kurst added another tally, followed by Cullen and Jennings to bring the score to 9-2.
  • New Paltz stopped the Brockport attack by adding a goal with two and a half minutes remaining in the frame.
  • Brockport responded with two more goals before the halftime break.
  • Cullen picked up her third of the day, while Victoria Thompson picked up a man-up tally.
  • New Paltz picked up the first goal of the second-half, bringing the score to 11-4.
  • Brockport answered with four more tallies.
  • Thompson picked up the 12th goal, followed by Jennings, Lyndsie Pratt, and Conklin.
  • New Paltz added one more, but Kurst responded for Brockport a minute later.
  • The hawks tallied three goals before the end of the half, but Briana Davies was able to add another for the Green and Gold before time expired.
KEY STATISTICS – 
  • The Golden Eagles outshot their opponent 27-12
  • Brockport owned draw controls, winning 20 of 28.
  • Grapevine, Jennings, Kurst, and Conklin all picked up four points on the day.
  • Victoria Thompson caused five turnovers and won four ground ball battles.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, April 24. The Green and Gold will host St. John Fisher College, first whistle is set for 4 p.m.
