Brockport Stays Perfect in SUNYAC Play

BROCKPORT, N.Y. –The College at Brockport women's lacrosse team defeated Buffalo State Wednesday afternoon, by a score of 17-8. With the win, the Golden Eagles move to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in conference, while the Bengals fall to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED –
  • The Golden Eagles came out firing, scoring 11 unanswered goals to start the first half.
  • The first half goal-scoring surge started with Chloe Kurst finding Allison Jennings for the first goal of the contest.
  • Heather Conklin picked up the second Brockport goal, followed by another Jennings score and then two more Conklin buries.
  • Freshman Erin Wegrzyn put the Golden Eagles ahead by six, and Conklin added two more to extend the lead to eight.
  • The Golden Eagles didn't stop there, as Wegrzyn netted her second of the game, followed by scores from Kurst and Victoria Thompson.
  • The Bengals answered with 3:34 remaining in the half to narrow the score to 11-1.
  • The Golden Eagles allowed a goal to start the second half.
  • Brockport responded quickly, scoring four goals in a row, Kurst picking up two, while Conklin and Thompson each added one.
  • Buffalo state went on a four-goal run of their own following the Brockport onslaught.
  • The two teams traded a pair of goals each to end the half, 17-8
  • Brockport goals came from Emma Nevers and Jennings.
KEY STATISTICS – 
  • Chloe Kurst and Heather Conklin led the Green and Gold with six points each. Kurst picked up three goals and added three assists, while Conklin extended her scoring streak to nine games, tallying six goals on the day.
  • Allison Jennings picked up a hat-trick
  • Nikki Nolan held down the defensive side of the ball, forcing three turnovers and adding a team high seven ground ball victories.
  • The Golden Eagles win-streak is now at five games.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, April 6 when they host Plattsburgh State, for their 'Lax Vs Cancer' event. First whistle is set for 11 a.m.
