Brockport Tops Wooster to Open 2019 Season

Alliance, OH – The College at Brockport volleyball team went 1-1 on the first day of the 2019 season. The Green and Gold defeated Wooster, 3-0, in the first match before falling to Mount Union, 0-3, later in the day.
 
In the Golden Eagles victory over Wooster, the team took all three points in the contest by match scores of 25-21, 25-20, and 25-12. It was a true team effort as Elena Grossman, Meaghan Mastro, Megan Muehlbauer, Krysti McDonald, and Lindsey Luce all tallied at least four kills.
 
Abbey Manning led the team with 13 assists, while teammate Kerri McHale earned nine assists. Shelby Budnick was active on the court, recording a team-high 15 digs. Defensively Meaghan Mastro elevated for three solo blocks and two block assists. Budnick and Kerri McHale combined for five service aces in the win.
 
The Golden Eagles got a nice win to start of the Mount Union Tournament, before facing off against the host team, Mount Union later in the night.
 
The Mount Union Raiders protected their home court, defeating Brockport 3-0 to finish out day one of the tournament.
 
Meghan Mastro did it all in the second go round of day one, notching team-high numbers with 13 kills, three service aces, and nine digs. Megan Muehlbauer finished with six kills and was one of five players with at least four digs.
 
Abbey Manning and Kerri McHale combined for 25 set assists. Mchale, Budnick, and Ellen Paddock all hustled to notch at least five digs in the match.
 
The Green and Gold finish day one of the season 1-1, with another pair of matches set for Saturday.
 
The Golden Eagles will face Muskingum University at 10 a.m. and Earlham College at 12 pm to close out the Mount Union Tournament.
