Pittsford, NY – The College at Brockport field hockey team remains undefeated so far this season after winning, 4-3, against Nazareth on the road. The Golden Eagles scored three unanswered goals to come from behind and win in overtime, with
Renee Lauer burying the game-winner.
Bailey Lazore had a great outing, as she led the way with two goals in regulation and had the assist on the overtime winner.
Alyssa Fuccillo also beat Nazareth's goalie for a score, while teammates
Emily Hall and
Katelynn Mello each had an assist.
Cara Fox entered the game as the goalie in the second half, relieving teammate Megan Peterson at halftime. Fox came up with six saves, including three stops in the overtime period.
The Golden Flyers took an early 2-0 lead, with two scores coming in the first nine minutes of the match. Lazore got Brockport on the board in the second quarter to cut the deficit in half. However, Naz would answer with a goal just before halftime to go up 3-1.
The Golden Eagles came roaring back late in the game, scoring twice in the fourth quarter to tie the game up at 3-3. Fuccillo scored the equalizer with less than a minute remaining in regulation to send the contest to overtime.
Renee Lauer scored three minutes into extra time, completing the team's comeback and securing Brockport a 4-0 record for the first time since 1997.
The Green and Gold return home this weekend for matchups against Hartwick on Saturday (5 pm) and Cedar Crest College on Sunday (12 pm).
