Canton, NY – The College at Brockport women's soccer team was on the road Sunday for a meeting with SUNY Canton. The Golden Eagles got back in the win column with a dominant 2-0 shutout victory.
Brockport took an early 1-0 lead in just the 2
nd minutes of the match, with
Sydnee Smith scoring her first goal of the season. Freshman
Kiley Longin was given the assist on the score. The team held its one-goal advantage at the half, and outshot Canton 16-0 in the opening half.
In the 73
rd minute,
Molly Zientek buried the second goal of the contest for the Green and Gold, taking a 2-0 lead. Longin and
Mara Zimmerman were credited with an assist on the point.
The Golden Eagles outshot Canton 31-0, as goalkeeper freshman
Morgan Lupo did not have to make any saves in the team's shutout win.
Brockport improves to 3-3-1 on the season, with its next game set for a 2 pm kick-off on Saturday, Sept. 21st at Juniata College.
