Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport women's tennis team returns to action Tuesday for a non-conference match at Houghton College. The match starts at 4 pm.
Last Time Out: Four members of the team traveled to William Smith College on Saturday for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional Tournament. Phoebe Morse and Sarah Mahar competed alone, while Elizabeth Bean and Linda Coleman-Lawrence competed on the doubles side.
Prior to that, the last team match was on last Tuesday, when the Green and Gold traveled to Geneseo. Brockport fell to the Knights, 8-1, making its record 3-3 overall and an 0-2 record in SUNYAC play.
Singles Play: Caroline Stewart gave the Golden Eagles their lone match point during the trip to Geneseo in three sets by way of 1-6, 6-2, and 11-9. The freshman is now 2-4 overall in singles play with an even 1-1 singles mark against conference opponents.
Doubles: Brockport will look to return to its winning ways after stumbling against Geneseo in duos. In the previous match against St. John Fisher, each pairing won their matchup for a Green and Gold sweep over the Cardinals in doubles play.
A Look at Houghton: The Highlanders currently sit at 2-5 on the season. Most recently the team fell to Sage College, 3-6, over the weekend. Houghton is 1-2 against SUNYAC schools, dropping matches to Cortland and Fredonia with a win against Oswego.
Up Next: Brockport returns home this weekend for a pair of conference battles. Friday the Golden Eagles will host Oswego at 3 pm, before Cortland comes to town on Saturday for a 1 pm start.
