Women's Tennis to Host Pair of Weekend Matchups

Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport women's tennis team is hosting double SUNYAC action this Homecoming Weekend. The team will face Oswego at 3 pm Friday, before taking on Cortland on Saturday for a 12 pm start.

Senior Day Saturday: Saturday will be the final home match of the season for Brockport, as the team will be celebrating Senior Day. Elizabeth Bean, Emily Gross, and Phoebe Morse will all suit up for the last home contest of their collegiate careers. The team will take time on Saturday to recognize the graduating class.

Last Match: Brockport improved to 4-3 overall on the season, with 5-4 victory over the Houghton Highlanders in its last outing. Eddiena Chaney and Riley Warren earned the lone match point to come from doubles after going to the tiebreaker set. Chaney and Warren also got it done individually, winning their matchup singles play. Elizabeth Bean and Linda Coleman-Lawrence both won match points in singles competition as well.

Conference Play: The Golden Eagles are currently 0-2 in SUNYAC play heading into the busy weekend. The team is one spot behind Cortland and one spot ahead of Oswego in the conference standings, prior to the matchups. Cortland is 1-3 in the SUNYAC, while Oswego is 0-4 in the conference.

Looking at Oswego: The Lakers are 3-7 overall this season without a win against SUNYAC opponents. The team has pulled it together recently after a slow start, winning two matches in a row heading into Friday's meeting with Brockport. Oswego defeated Utica, 8-1, before most recently edging Alfred for a 5-4 win. The team is looking for its first conference win this weekend.

Looking at Cortland: Cortland heads into the weekend with a 4-3 mark overall on the year, looking to add a few more wins in conference play. After being swept, 0-9, in a loss to New Paltz the Red Dragons hope to bounce back against Fredonia on Friday before coming to Brockport on Saturday.

What's Next: The Golden Eagles travel to Binghamton, NY for a full weekend of crucial SUNYAC action next week. The team will face Plattsburgh on Friday, Oneonta on Saturday, and New Paltz on Sunday to determine final seeding for the conference tournament.
