BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The College at Brockport volleyball team is coming off a nice off week after falling in their first conference matchup against Geneseo last Tuesday, 0-3. With homecoming weekend ahead of them, the Golden Eagles welcome two more conference opponents to Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium starting with Plattsburgh on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by Potsdam on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Last Time They Met: The Golden Eagles grabbed two strong wins against their northern opponents in the 2018 season, shutting out the Cardinals in three straight sets and the Bears in four sets.
Against the Cardinals the Green and Gold amassed 35 total kills, with
Meaghan Mastro helping lead the way with six.
Lindsey Luce also helped lead the offense, posting a .300 hitting percentage through three sets. The Golden Eagles wasted no time in securing the win, notching the Cardinals 25-16, 25-22 and 25-17.
The Bears fate was very similar, as the Golden Eagles grabbed three of four sets from them; 25-18, 25-16, 22-25 and 25-17). In four sets, the Green and Gold posted 55 kills (their highest in the second set), this time Luce leading the team offensively with 13 kills, 10 blocks and an assist for 18 total points.
What To Expect:
Plattsburgh – The Cardinals enter the weekend with a 5-9 record (0-1 SUNYAC) and a strong group of returners. Seniors Megan Hyde and Brianna Coon led the team offensively in the 2018 season, leading the team in points and kills. In 14 matches the Cardinals are averaging the following:
K/S: 9.5, A/S: 8.7 , SA/S:1.7, D/S: 14.8, B/S: 1.4
Potsdam – The Golden Eagles find a similarly matched opponent in the Bears as well, posting a 6-8 record (1-0 SUNYAC). Nicole Hanse and Jessica Ader are the offensive strength for the Bears, collectively accounting for 155 kills and 182.5 points. As a team, the Bears are currently averaging the following:
