Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport women's tennis team took care of business at home against Oswego. The Golden Eagles swept the visiting Lakers, 9-0, improving to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in SUNYAC play.
Caroline Stewart and
Heather Phillips earned an 8-2 win in first doubles.
Linda Coleman-Lawrence and
Elizabeth Bean won the match point in second doubles, 8-3. Finally to complete the sweep of doubles competition,
Riley Warren and
Anna O'Donnell won their matchup 8-3.
Stewart also won 6-2, 6-2 in the first singles slot to earn the team another match point.
Heather Phillips defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-4 in the second singles spot.
Sarah Mahar secured another point for Brockport with a 6-1, 6-2 win in third singles. In the fourth singles flight,
Andrea Banke got the win in two sets by scores of 6-2, 6-2.
Elizabeth Bean fought hard to win the fifth singles match in three sets after losing the first set. Her match point was earned by scores of 3-6, 6-1, and 10-4.
Eddiena Chaney finished her matchup 6-1, 6-1 in two sets to complete the sweep over the Lakers.
After getting their first win in conference play, the Golden Eagles are home again tomorrow for another SUNYAC matchup. The team will host Cortland for an 11 am start.
