Field Hockey Improves To 2-0 After Strong 4-1 Win Over Keuka College

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team added another home field win to its list Tuesday night with a solid 4-1 win over Keuka College.

The Golden Eagles wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard as junior Meaghan Lurz commanded the circle just 1:43 into the game for a quick 1-0 lead, assisted by forward Katie Ziemba. The Wolves answered back with a goal right before the end of the first quarter however, the Green and Gold would hold them to that solo goal for the remainder of the game.

Kayli Brown started things up in the second quarter for the Golden Eagles, adding her second goal of the season with an assist from freshman Taylor Weber. The second period was the most dominant for the Green and Gold, as Renee Lauer moved the lead to two with a smooth rebound off of the goalie's pads after a strong feed from Bailey Lazore.

Both teams' offenses remained stagnant through the third quarter, putting the Golden Eagles in a strong position heading into the final 15 minutes. Alyssa Fuccillo sealed the deal for the Green and Gold halfway through the fourth with her third goal of the season. Fuccillo's scoring opportunity came off a hard shot from the top of the circle by Katelynn Mello, who was key in making things happen in front of the net for the Golden Eagles last season.

The Golden Eagles closed out the night outshooting the Wolves 14-9 with an 8 to 1 differential in shots on goal. The Green and Gold's defense provided a solid brick wall for goalie Megan Petersen, as the Wolves were only able to net one goal despite their 14 penalty corner attempts.

With a strong start under their belt, the Golden Eagles look to continue their homestand success this Saturday as the team welcomes Sage College for a 12 p.m. matchup.
