BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey enters the weekend on a hot streak, starting their season with a 2-0 record on home turf.

Continued Success: The Golden Eagles come into today's matchup sitting at a perfect 2-0 after a 4-1 win over Keuka College on Tuesday night. Much like their first victory, the Green and Gold were successful because of their strength as a whole, with four different players executing in front of the goal. Meghan Lurz started the movement quickly, netting the Golden Eagles first goal only two minutes into the game. The junior's leadership in the circle sparked a drive in the offense as
Kayli Brown,
Renee Lauer and
Alyssa Fuccillo each added a goal of their own.
Katelynn Mello,
Katie Ziemba,
Taylor Weber and
Bailey Lazore, although didn't record goals of their own, were instrumental in the execution of the Golden Eagles scoring opportunities.

The Green and Gold's success couldn't have been possible however without the strength of their defense, who faced 14 penalty corner attempts and only allowed for one goal throughout the duration of the game.

SUNYAC Standings: As a result of their hot start, the Golden Eagles find themselves atop the SUNAYC leaderboard, leading the league in total goals (17), goals per game (8.5) and assists (13). Individually the Green and Gold are finding success as well, as Fuccillo currently holds the top rank in points with seven followed closely by Lurz with six. Both athletes currently lead the league in goals as well, each with three apiece.

Last Time They Met: The Golden Eagles met the Gators on the road last year where they picked up a 4-0 win. Lurz led the pack offensively, netting goals in both of her shot attempts. Fuccillo was successful in the circle as well with a breakaway goal to solidify the Green and Gold's shut out. The Golden Eagles would finish the evening outshooting the Gators 10-7 while only allowing two shots on goal and three penalty corners.

What To Expect: Sage only added field hockey as a varsity sport in the spring of 2017, last year being their opening season as a program. The Gators finished the season 4-13 overall and welcome back a hefty sophomore class of 10, led by a solo junior and senior class. Charity Rushinski and Sara O'Connor led the Gators offense, accounting for 21 points, seven goals, and seven assists.

Up Next: After three consecutive home contests, the Golden Eagles start of the road next week. The team will travel to Nazareth College on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. start.
