Men's Basketball Celebrates Senior Day with Blowout Win, Extends Win Streak to 13

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team defeated Geneseo on Senior Day, 88-56, to secure an undefeated regular season home record of 11-0. Brockport has now won 13 straight and improves to 20-3 overall and 15-1 in the SUNYAC.
 
In just 11 minutes of play, senior Justin Summers tallied 13 points, five boards, and three blocks. Monte Stroman scored 12 points and had two steals to celebrate senior day. Senior guard Tyler Collins finished with 10 points and six assists, while Darius Townsend had six points and three boards.
 
Antonio Alvarez shot 4-for-5 from beyond the arc to put up 13 points coming in off the bench. Danny Ashley had nine points and a team-high seven assists in the win. Tyree Grimsley ended up with two points shy of a double-double, posting eight points and 10 boards.
 
In his first game back after missing nine straight contests, Justin Summers sparked an 11-0 lead with eight early points. Brockport was up 17-3 at the 12:49 mark in the first half and continued to lead for the entire game. Geneseo closed the gap, cutting the lead to just five points towards the end of the first, but the Green and Gold turned it up a notch to take a 41-24 lead at the half.
 
The Golden Eagles continued to fire on all cylinders in the second half, stretching the lead out to as much as 34 points. They hit seven shots from long range in the half, and shot 50% from the floor in the game. Brockport had 42 points in the paint and got 41 points from the reserve players in the contest. The team got the win on senior day with a 32-point margin of victory.
 
With four seniors playing in their final regular season home game, the group combined to score 41 points in the win. The win secured an undefeated finish at home for the regular season for the first time since the 2007-08 season when the team went 9-0 at home.
 
With a win in its next game, Brockport can clinch the number one seed going into the SUNYAC Tournament.
 
The Golden Eagles are on the road next week for matchups with Cortland and Oswego to close out the regular season. Friday's game at Cortland tips off at 7:30 pm, while the regular season finale at Oswego starts at 4 pm.
