Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team will open its 2020 campaign at home on Wednesday. Brockport will host Alfred University for a 4 pm start.
2019 Recap: The Golden Eagles finished last year with a record of 6-8 overall and 1-5 against SUNYAC opponents. They played in a lot of close games throughout the season, with six contests being decided by three or fewer points. After some tough losses to start the 2019 schedule, Brockport bounced back with three straight wins against non-conference opponents. SUNYAC play got the best of the Green and Gold, as the team missed out on the conference tournament.
All-Conference FOGO: Face-off specialist
Ethan Stiles returns after being named 2
nd-Team All-Conference last year as a sophomore. He won a total of 149 face-offs in 2019 and led the team by scooping up 52 ground balls. In the 14-10 victory over Keuka College, he won 21-of-26 face-offs in the game and scored lone goal of the year. Stiles aims to build off of his success from last year going into his junior campaign.
Key Returners: Brockport's lead goal scorer from last season,
Patrick Sheridan, is back for his junior year. Sheridan had a total of 21 points in 2019, coming from a team-high 15 goals and six assists.
Liam O'Connor and
Corey Choberka were tied for a team-best 23 points last year and are back again this season. The duo's numbers matched each other in 2019, as each player tallied 14 goals and a team-high nine assists. Goalie
John Felice is back in net this year as a sophomore, after going 6-6 with 129 saves in his first year of collegiate play.
New Faces: The Green and Gold welcome 10 new faces to the roster for 2020, with a freshman class of 10 new players.

Trail Back to SUNYACs: Last year was the first time since 2015 that Brockport men's lacrosse missed out on the SUNYAC Tournament. The team looks to bounce back this season and return to postseason play after its one-year absence. Conference play gets started on March 28
th in a road game against Plattsburgh. Brockport will play two of its final three regular season games at home against SUNYAC opponents.
Looking Ahead: The Golden Eagles are back in action on Saturday, as they hit the road for another non-conference battle against Clarkson. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 pm.
