Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team is on the road Tuesday night for a SUNYAC matchup against Fredonia. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 pm.
Receiving Votes: With a record of 15-3 overall and 10-1 in the SUNYAC, Brockport is receiving votes in the latest D3hoops Top 25 National Poll. With six votes in the recent poll, it marks the most votes for the program since the 2016-17 season.
Hot Streak: The Green and Gold have now won eight games in a row heading into this week's set up contests. With nine wins in the last 10 outings, the team has only lost one game since the calendar changed to the year 2020. Brockport continues to win in convincing fashion, holding an average margin of victory of 19.1 points during the win streak.
Stepping Up: Multiple players have stepped up on the court in recent games, helping to extend the team's impressive stretch of wins. Averaging 16.8 points over the last five,
Jahidi Wallace has had huge performances, including a 22-point night in the win against Potsdam. In the last four games
Tyler Collins has come up with 14 steals and made 12 shots from long range. In the win over Plattsburgh,
Antonio Alvarez posted a season-high 17 points while shooting 4-for-5 from beyond the arc.
On Top: After going 3-0 against conference opponents last week, Brockport is now in the number one spot in the SUNYAC Standings. Its 10-1 mark in the conference is just ahead of Oneonta at 9-1 and Potsdam at 9-2. Oswego is still in the race as well with an 8-3 record in the SUNYAC so far.
Final Stretch: The regular season is beginning to wind down with only seven games remaining until the SUNYAC Tournament field will be determined. Brockport plays three consecutive games away from home this week before playing its last two home games next week. The team will then travel to Cortland and Oswego on February 21
st and 22
nd to finish out the regular season. The first round of the conference tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, February 25
th.
Scouting Fredonia: The Blue Devils own a record of 7-11 overall and 3-8 in the conference. Now on a three-game losing streak, the team most recently fell to Oswego 85-68. Fredonia has four players averaging at least 10 points a game, as Bryan Dydy leads the team with 14.6 points a night. Moussa Samassa is the top rebounder, grabbing 7.6 boards a game. Fredonia holds a record of 3-5 on its home court.
Looking Ahead: The Golden Eagles will complete their three-game stretch away from home this weekend with trips to Oneonta and New Paltz. Friday's game against Oneonta is set to start at 7:30 pm, while Saturday's New Paltz game tips-off at 4 pm.
