#20 Brockport to Face #18 Ithaca on Saturday

Brockport, NY- The Brockport women's lacrosse team is at home this weekend for another top 25 matchup. The Golden Eagles will take on #18 Ithaca on Saturday for an 11am start.

Last Time Out: Brockport won a hard-fought game in its last outing against #21 Denison University in the season opener. The team took a 14-12 win on its home field to start the year with a 1-0 record. The game was tied 7-7 at halftime, as the teams traded goals for the majority of the contest. Natalie Strough and Courtney Cunningham scored two goals late in the second half, to give Brockport the edge and ultimately the win.

National Polls: After the Golden Eagles win against #21 Denison they have earned more votes in the most recent Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association National Poll. They remain at the #20 spot in the IWLCA rankings heading into a meeting with #18 Ithaca.

Offensive Player of the Week: After her performance against Denison, Chloe Kurst was named the PrestoSports SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week. In the 14-12 win over #21 Denison, Kurst had 6 total points from a career-high five goals and one assist. Kurst's shooting percentage in the game was registered at 62%.

Defensive Player of the Week: The PrestoSports SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Week honor was awarded to goalie Morgan Elmer. In the victory over #21 Denison, Elmer had 16 saves and 3 ground balls on the day. The sophomore goalie made some big saves for Brockport in the game, including two clutch stops in the final minute of play.

New Faces Contributing: One of the new faces on the Brockport Women's Lacrosse team had a big debut. Freshman Natalie Strough was a big contributor to the Golden Eagles win over Denison University. Strough had five points on the day coming in the form of 3 goals and 2 assists. In her first taste of collegiate action she notched a hat trick and scored what became the game-winning goal.

Scouting Ithaca: The Ithaca College Bombers are currently 3-0 to start the season and are ranked #18 in the IWLCA rankings. The team has won two top 25 matchup contests already coming into the contest with Brockport, defeating #24 Scranton and #22 Cortland last week. Bailey Herr leads the team in points, with six goals and a team-high eight assists for a total of 14 points. Indira Varma is the team's leading scorer with eight goals on the year, while Jacqui Hallack has seven of her own.

Up Next: The Golden Eagles hit the road for their next set of action, as they travel to face Clarkson University. The game is scheduled for 4 pm on Wednesday, March 11th.
