Cortland, NY – The SUNY Brockport volleyball team was on the road Friday night for a SUNYAC battle with the Cortland Red Dragons. Brockport fell 3-1 in an exciting match, dropping to 9-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Cortland took the first set, 26-24 before the Golden Eagles bounced back for a 25-22 win in the second set. The Red Dragons controlled the third set to take the point, 25-13. The fourth and final set was a tight contest, which saw Cortland prevail 25-23 to seal the win.
Meaghan Mastro led the Green and Gold with 15 kills on the night to go along with one solo and one block assist.
Andrea Coyle contributed with 13 kills, 13 digs, and three service aces in the match.
Kerri McHale led the way with 19 digs, as one of four players with double-digit digs.
Shelby Budnick and
Ellen Paddock both finished with 16 digs in the loss. McHale also paced Brockport with 29 total assists from her setter position.
Krysti McDonald had nine kills, while
Jordan Thompson,
Julia Schlundt, and
Andrea Coyle all had one block assist.
Madalyn Bowen and
Kerri McHale had three service aces, while
Shelby Budnick tallied two aces.
Brockport is back in action tomorrow afternoon with another SUNYAC matchup on the road. The squad faces Oswego for a 1 pm start on Saturday.
