Women's Tennis Pulls Out a Tight Victory to Close Out the Fall

Alfred, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's tennis team was on the road Sunday for a non-conference match with Alfred University. Brockport won its second in a row, 5-4, to improve to 4-1 overall on the season.

Eliza Gonzalez and Caroline Stewart got another win in doubles play today, winning their matchup 8-2. The duo is now 5-0 this season in team competition, as it holds down the first doubles slot for the Green and Gold.

Stewart continues her incredible win streak in singles team competition with a 6-1, 6-4 win in the second slot today. She has now won eight in a row dating back to the spring season in 2021.

Gonzalez continued on for another win in first singles by a score of 6-3, 6-4. She is now 3-2 on the season in singles play during team competition.

Samantha Aubin scored a crucial point for the Golden Eagles in fifth singles 7-6, 6-4. She improves to 3-2 on the season in singles play.

It all came down to the sixth singles match to decide which team would walk away with the win. Brockport's most recent addition to the squad, Victoria Andrews would earn a hard fought 6-4, 6-7, 10-5 win in three sets. Andrews scored what became the match-winning point in her debut for the team.

The Golden Eagles have now completed the fall section of their schedule, as they will not compete again until the spring semester. They carry a 4-1 record overall and 1-1 mark in the SUNYAC into the second leg of the season.

The squad gets back in action on April 14th, with a road trip to Binghamton, NY for a matchup with Plattsburgh State.
