Golden Eagles Take Care of Business & Improve to 9-0 at Home

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport volleyball team dominated at home against Buffalo State, sweeping the visiting Bengals 3-0. The Golden Eagles remained undefeated at 9-0 at home and are now 13-6 overall and 4-2 in SUNYAC play.
 
Brockport won the first and third set with a score of 25-4, earning its largest margin of victory in a set this season. 25-4 is the largest margin of victory in a set for the program since taking a set 25-3 back on September 19th, 2014 against Alfred University.
 
Meaghan Mastro led the way with 13 kills on just 20 attacks, earning a .550 hitting percentage in the match. Mastro also had one solo and one block assist defensively. Andrea Coyle registered a .439 hitting percentage on her way to tallying eight kills and nine digs.
 
Brockport had great success on the serve tonight recording 12 service aces. Shelby Budnick, Kerri McHale, Madalyn Bowen, and Megan Loomis all finished with three aces in the match.
 
Kerri McHale totaled 26 assists as the team's setter and also came up with eight digs. Shelby Budnick led the team with 16 digs in the contest as the Brockport libero. Myah Frostclapp had a team-high three total blocks, while Kaia Hubbard, Jordan Thompson, Andrea Coyle, and Krysti McDonald all had one block.
 
The Golden Eagles got off to a hot start in the first set, jumping out to a 6-0 lead. They didn't slow down as the lead quickly increased to 15-1 after a Madalyn Bowen service ace. The home team continued on this pace to snag the first set 25-4.
 
Buffalo State came to play in the second set, taking a 7-4 advantage at the start. The Green and Gold would fight back to snag a 10-8 lead. The squad then went on a run to go up 16-9. As the teams went back and forth, Brockport outlasted the Bengals to snag the second set, 25-16.
 
Set number three was very similar to the first of the night, as Brockport was in control from start to finish. The team marched through the set to take the point by a score of 25-4 again, sealing the sweep over Buffalo State.
 
The Golden Eagles are back in action on Saturday for another conference battle. It will be Senior Day as they host the Fredonia Blue Devils at 1 pm.
