Potsdam, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team improved to 7-7-2 overall and 3-3-1 in SUNYAC play with a win on the road on Saturday. Brockport bounced back from a loss on Friday with a 1-0 shutout win over Potsdam.
Lara Kanbur scored what became the game-winning goal, as
Julia Mascaro was credited with the assist. Goalkeeper
Guliana Parisi played the full 90 minutes in net, recording the clean sheet between the pipes.
The Golden Eagles dominated possession of the ball in the contest, outshooting Potsdam 21-2 on the day. They were awarded 12 corner kicks while the Bears only had three corner opportunities.
The first half was scoreless at 0-0, as neither team could find the back of the net. However, Brockport was creating consistent chances, firing off 15 shots in the first 45 minutes of play. The team did not surrender any shot opportunities to the hosting Bears in the opening half.

st minute of the match the Green and Gold got on the scoreboard.
Lara Kanbur received a pass from teammate
Julia Mascaro and beat the Potsdam goalie with a shot. Kanbur netted her third score of the season to give the squad a 1-0 lead over its SUNYAC opponent. With no other scores in the match, Brockport held on for the clean sheet victory on the road.
Sam Maghrak and
Ellen Walpole both fired three shots on target in this one which required a save from the Potsdam keeper, Savannah Bowie. Bowie finished with seven saves in a full 90-minute outing. The Bears are now 6-8 overall and 2-6 in the conference.
The Golden Eagles are back on the road next week to close out the regular season with two more SUNYAC matchups. They face Fredonia at 3 pm on Friday and Buffalo State at 1 pm on Saturday.
