Buffalo, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team clinched the sixth seed for the SUNYAC Tournament after defeating Buffalo State, 1-0, on Saturday. Brockport finishes out the regular season with a win, improving to 8-8-2 overall and 4-4-1 in the conference.
Camryn Pettit was the hero in the contest, scoring the lone goal on the day. After a pass from Pettit was cleared back out of the box, she shot a laser to the top left of the goal for the game-winner.
The first half of the match was scoreless in the first half, despite Brockport's constant pressure on the offensive end. The squad outshot Buffalo State 14-0 in the first half and had 10 corner kicks compared to zero from Buffalo State.
It was more of the same in the second half, as the Green and Gold continued to control the game. The team outshot the hosting Bengals 18-3 in the second half and had nine more corner kick opportunities. With less than 10 minutes left in regulation and the score still tied at 0-0,
Camryn Pettit netted what became the game-winning score.
With one save in a full 90-minute outing in net,
Guliana Parisi recorded her second solo shutout of the year.
Earning the sixth seed for the SUNYAC Tournament, the Golden Eagles will prepare for a road matchup with the third seeded Cortland Red Dragons. The first round match is scheduled for Saturday, October 30
th.
