New Paltz, NY – The SUNY Brockport volleyball team was on the road Saturday afternoon for a SUNYAC matchup with New Paltz. Brockport lost, 3-1, dropping to 15-7 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
Megan Loomis did a little of everything in the contest, leading Brockport with 17 kills and four service aces. Loomis also contributed seven digs, while
Meaghan Mastro had 11 kills for the team and two total blocks.
Kerri McHale finished with a match-high 43 assists and added 11 digs.
Shelby Budnick got down for a match-high 21 digs on the day. Budnick along with teammates
Andrea Coyle and
Ellen Paddock all registered one service ace.
The Green and Gold lost the first two sets 28-26 and 25-17. After being down 2-0 for the match, the team bounced back with a 25-16 win in the third set to make the score 2-1. However, New Paltz held off Brockport's comeback attempt with a 25-20 win in the fourth set to close out the match 3-1.
The loss snapped a five-match win streak for Brockport. With no more conference games on the schedule, the Golden Eagles are officially the three seed for the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament. They will have hosting rights for the first round of the postseason, taking on the sixth seed Buffalo State.
Brockport will be at home for a non-conference matchup with RIT next time out. The contest is set for a 6 pm start on Tuesday, October 26
th.
