Brockport Drops Two on the Road, Turns Attention to SUNYACs

Ithaca, NY – The SUNY Brockport volleyball team lost both matches on Saturday to conclude the regular season on the road at the Ithaca College Tri Match. Brockport fell to host Ithaca, 3-2, and then lost to NYU, 3-0.
 
The Golden Eagles conclude the regular season at 16-9 overall and 6-3 in conference play. The reigning 2019 SUNYAC Champions have locked up the third seed for the conference tournament for a chance to defend their title. They will host the sixth seeded Buffalo State Bengals for the opening round of postseason play on November 2nd.
 
Match 1
Brockport 2, Ithaca 3 – Final
 
In the first set Brockport took a 1-0 lead to start the match, winning by a score of 25-17. The second set was tight all the way through the finish line, as Ithaca outlasted Brockport 26-24. The hosting Bombers then got in a rhythm to take the third, 25-16, going up 2-1. The Golden Eagles bounced back strong for a 25-12 win in the fourth set but came up short in the fifth set 15-11 as Ithaca got the win.
 
Andrea Coyle led the Green and Gold with 22 kills, while Megan Loomis wasn't far behind with 16 kills. Myah Frostclapp got up for five total blocks in this one, tallying three block assists and two solo blocks.
 
Madalyn Bowen, Andrea Coyle, and Shelby Budnick all broke double digits in the digs column. Bowen and Coyle finished with 13 digs each, while Budnick had 12 of her own.
 
Setters Kerri McHale and Ashley Allen combined for 45 assists in the five set-thriller. McHale led the way with 31 and Allen was credited with 14 assists. McHale also recorded two service aces, while Budnick and Frostclapp each had one.
 
Match 2
Brockport 0, NYU 3 – Final
 
The No. 12 nationally ranked team in NYU swept the Green and Gold in three sets to close out the day. The Violets defeated Brockport 25-13 in the first set, 25-17 in the second, and 25-16 in the third set.
 
Andrea Coyle had seven kills to pace the team, while Jordan Thompson and Megan Loomis both had five. Coyle also contributed eight digs and one ace in the match.
 
Kerri McHale had two service aces to go with her team-high 16 assists. Kaia Hubbard and Jordan Thompson teamed up for one block assist defensively. Shelby Budnick registered six digs and a service ace.
 
The Golden Eagles look to the SUNYAC Tournament now for their first-round matchup against Buffalo State. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, November 2nd at 6 pm at home in the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium.
