Selinsgrove, PA – The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team was on the road Tuesday for a non-conference matchup with Susquehanna University. Brockport lost its third in a row, falling to the River Hawks 5-2.
The Green and Gold drop below .500 to 4-5-2 overall on the season, while Susquehanna jumped above .500 at 5-4 overall.
Lara Kanbur and
Kiley Longin both found the back of the net in the match for Brockport. Kanbur now has two scores on the season, while Longin now has three.
Kayla Usborne started in net, making four saves in just over 80 minutes of action between the pipes. Senior
Guliana Parisi entered as the goalkeeper later in the match, getting around 10 minutes of work.
The River Hawks struck first in the contest with an early goal in just the 6
th minute of play. They would go up 2-0 about 10 minutes later with another score. The Golden Eagles would get on the board shortly after thanks to
Lara Kanbur, but a quick response from Susquehanna put them down 3-1 at the half.
Brockport was outshot in the first 45 minutes of action, 10-3, despite earning one extra corner kick opportunity than its opponent.
About halfway through the second half,
Kiley Longin would beat the opposing goalkeeper to cut the deficit down to 3-2. Two more goals down the stretch for the River Hawks would give them the final 5-2 lead to secure the win.
Susquehanna received goals from Anna Werner, Olivia Ricci, Gillian Maack, and two from Emily Wertz. Ricci and Maack both also had assists in the contest. Samantha Chillis assisted on two scores, while Mackenzie Dickey and Marley Clendenin both added one more assist to their season tally.
The Golden Eagles return home this weekend for a pair of crucial SUNYAC matches. They take on Oswego this Friday at 4 pm and Cortland at 1 pm on Saturday.
