Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team snapped a three-game losing skid on Friday with a win at home over Oswego. Brockport got the victory, 2-1, improving to 5-5-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the SUNYAC.
Sydnee Smith played a role in both of the Golden Eagle scores in this one, tallying one goal and one assist in the win.
Kiley Longin scored the second goal for the squad, which ultimately became the game-winner.
Kayla Usborne played 70 minutes in net, before exiting the game, making six saves without allowing a goal.
Guliana Parisi entered the contest for the final 20 minutes or so, making one save to help secure the win at home.
Despite being outshot, 7-5, in the opening half against Oswego, Brockport would enter the mid-game break with a 1-0 lead. After being awarded a free kick in the attacking zone,
Sydnee Smith struck the ball well to beat the opposing goalie to put the squad on the board first.
Kayla Usborne would make five saves in the first half of play.
Holding a one goal advantage, the Golden Eagles would find the much-needed insurance goal in the middle of the second half.
Kiley Longin scored her fourth of the season to give the team a 2-0 lead over the visiting Lakers.
Sydnee Smith was credited with the assist.
Oswego would get on the board late in the game to cut the score down to 2-1, but the rally would end there. Brockport held on for its fifth win of the year.
The Golden Eagles are back at home on Saturday to take on Cortland on Senior Day. The final home SUNYAC match of the regular season is set to begin at 1 pm at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium.
