Volleyball Sweeps Potsdam & Jumps to 7-0 at Home

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport volleyball team swept Potsdam at home on Friday night, 3-0, improving to 11-6 overall and 2-2 in the SUNYAC. Brockport remains undefeated at home, holding a 7-0 record playing on its home floor.
 
Megan Loomis had a team-high 12 kills in the contest. Andrea Coyle was right behind her with 11 kills, while also chipping in defensively with 13 digs and two block assists.
 
Krysti McDonald finished with eight kills and no attack errors to earn a .444 hitting percentage. McDonald even teamed up with freshman Julia Schlundt as both players got up for three block assists.
 
Meaghan Mastro tallied seven kills, two service aces, and two solo blocks. Libero Shelby Budnick notched a team-high 17 digs, leading all players in the match. Setters Kerri McHale and Ashley Allen set up their teammates all night, registering 33 and 10 assists respectively.
 
Ellen Paddock, Michelle Russotti, Krysti McDonald, and Meaghan Mastro all ended the match with at least one kill and zero attacking errors.
 
The first set was all Brockport, as the team got up early and didn't let up. The Green and Gold had several spurts to eventually take the first match point, 25-13, over the visiting Bears.
 
The second set was a back-and-forth affair that featured a tied score on 10 different occasions. A five-point advantage at 13-8, would be Brockport's largest lead of the game as Potsdam continued to battle to the end. The Golden Eagles would outlast their opponents for the 25-23 win in set number two.
 
Potsdam continued to play hard in the third set, making Brockport work for the sweep. The Bears would earn their largest lead of the match in this game, going up 15-11 at one point. Another surge from the Green and Gold would put the squad back on top on the scoreboard. After missing the last several matches, Myah Frostclapp would record a clutch kill to set up the match-winning kill for Krysti McDonald to secure the 25-21 win in set three.
 
The Golden Eagles will look to extend its undefeated home record to 8-0 on Saturday when they face Plattsburgh. The match is set to begin at 1 pm.
