Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's volleyball team is now 8-0 at home this season after getting its second sweep in a row on Saturday, defeating Plattsburgh 3-0. Brockport improves to 12-6 overall and 3-2 in the SUNYAC with the win.
Jordan Thompson led the way with eight kills and earned a .412 hitting percentage to go with one block assist.
Megan Loomis tallied seven kills, nine digs, three aces, and one solo block.
Kerri McHale contributed two service aces and seven digs to pair with her match-high 24 assists.
Shelby Budnick's 13 digs led Brockport defensively.
Meaghan Mastro had two block assists and five kills, while
Andrea Coyle had one block assist to go with four digs and four kills.
The Golden Eagles dominated the opening set of the match, leading from start to finish. After earning a 6-5 lead early on, they went on a tear to take a convincing 21-9 lead. The home team took the first match point, 25-14, winning the first set.
Plattsburgh kept it close for the first half of the second set, trailing Brockport 9-8 early on. The Green and Gold would remain in the lead for the entire set once again, working to earn a comfortable 22-15 lead. The squad would secure a 25-17 win of set number two, going up 2-0 for the match.
The Golden Eagles jumped on the visiting Cardinals right away in the third set, taking a 7-1 lead in the game. They would yet again hold an advantage for the entire set, cruising to a 25-16 win to finish up the sweep over Plattsburgh. Plattsburgh falls to 1-6 in the SUNYAC this year.
Brockport will play at home again next weekend for two more SUNYAC contests. It welcomes Buffalo State on Friday at 6 pm before facing Fredonia on Saturday at 1 pm.
