Mastro & Coyle Named AVCA All-Region

Meaghan Mastro and Andrea Coyle of the Brockport women's volleyball team were named to the 2021 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III All-Region III Team in a release by the coaches association on Thursday.

For each of the 10 regions in the Division III volleyball, one 14-person team and six honorable mention players earned recognition. The AVCA women's volleyball postseason awards program is in its 39th year. The AVCA is proud to honor deserving student-athletes annually by selecting All-Region and All-America teams, highlighted by the selection of the AVCA Division III Player of the Year. AVCA All-Region and All-America selection committees represent their conferences and regions to determine these selections along with AVCA-member head coach voting results. AVCA All-Americans will be announced on November 16th.

Mastro is now a three-time All-Region selection for the Golden Eagles. She was also recently named First-Team All-Conference, making it her third time earning All-SUNYAC honors. One of the members of the SUNYAC All-Decade Team, the middle blocker graduate student was great offensively and defensively all year. She was second on the team with 260 total kills, which placed her top five in the SUNYAC. Mastro was also top ten in the conference with her team leading total of 69 blocks. Mastro played in 114 matches over the course of her career at Brockport and totaled 898 kills, 79 service aces, 262 blocks, and 468 digs.

Andrea Coyle was named All-Region for the first time in her career. She also recently earned her first All-SUNYAC nod, as she was selected First-Team All-Conference. She led Brockport offensively with 304 total kills on the season, which ranked third in the SUNYAC. Her mark of 3.34 kills per set was also tops on the team and third in the conference. The senior outside hitter recorded 34 kills through the quarterfinals and semifinals of the SUNYAC Tournament, as she was named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team. Coyle was also effective on the defensive side of the action, as she tallied the third most digs on the squad with 230. Her 26 total blocks were also third best on the team this season. In 55 career games at Brockport, she has 559 kills, 44 service aces, 57 blocks and 378 digs.

The Golden Eagles finished the season 17-10 overall and 6-3 in SUNYAC play. They went a perfect 12-0 on their home court, including a win over Buffalo State in the SUNYAC Tournament Quarterfinals. After winning the SUNYAC Title back in 2019, the team made a run into the conference semifinals before falling to Geneseo, 3-2.
