Brooklyn, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team dominated Brooklyn College on Tuesday night to snag the 84-50 win on the road.
Jahidi Wallace posted 21 points and 12 boards to notch a double-double, as Brockport jumps to 3-1 on the season.
Wallace was nearly unstoppable, shooting 8-for-13 from the field on his way to a season-high in scoring. It was his first double-double of the year, adding two assists and three blocks in the contest.
Mekhi Beckett had another solid outing, finishing with 17 points and eight rebounds.
David Grady III and
Joseph Pena each had nine points in the win.
Brandon Kennedy-Gay dished out six assists and had two steals.
Devante Hagins did it all, posting six points, four rebounds, five assists, three blocks, and three steals.
Brockport got off to a great start in this one, going up 10-2 early on. The team would stretch its lead to double-digits quickly, taking an 11-point lead with 11:48 on the clock. The Green and Gold only gave up two points in the final four minutes of the half, entering halftime with a 40-22 advantage.
A 40-point first half was matched by an even higher scoring effort by the Golden Eagles in the second. It would be the second-highest scoring half of the season so far for the team. Brockport would march on through the finish line to secure the 34-point victory, the largest margin of the year.
Shooting 32-for-59 from the floor, Brockport shot 54.2% while holding Brooklyn to just 29.5% shooting on the night. The squad also outscored the Bulldogs, 48-28, in the painted area, while the reserves outscored Brooklyn's bench, 37-3.
Brooklyn was led by Noah Shy and Elisha Park, as both poured in 16 points. Zuric Harvey tallied a game-high eight assists in the loss. The Bulldogs are now 1-6 overall on the season.
The Golden Eagles are back in action next week, as they host Fredonia for the first SUNYAC matchup of the year. They take on the Blue Devils for a 7:30 pm tip-off on Tuesday, November 30
