Brockport Comes Up Short in Overtime Loss

Buffalo, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team lost in overtime on the road to Buffalo State, 75-65. Erin Radack led Brockport on the night with 18 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Radack and company drop to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in the SUNYAC.
 
Serena Sordetto posted 12 points and 11 rebounds, notching her first double-double of the season and the second of her career. Kylee Rosbrook hit double figures for her fourth consecutive game, registering 10 points and nine boards. Erin Nolan also had 10 points on the night to mark her third double-digit scoring performance of the season. Molly Mahony did a little of everything to accumulate seven points, eight rebounds, and team-high six assists to earn a new season-high.
 
The Golden Eagles outrebounded the Bengals, 17-6, in the first quarter including six offensive boards that led to nine second chance points. They held a 20-13 lead going into the second, where Buffalo State made its run. The home team shot 7-of-14 from the floor, including 3-for-5 from deep to take the lead. Brockport trailed, 34-30, at the mid-game break.
 
Both teams kept on pace with each other in the third quarter, both finishing the period with 12 points. This kept the Green and Gold behind by just four points heading into the fourth. The team did what it had to in the fourth, outscoring Buffalo State 15-11 to send it to overtime. Tied at 57-57, the Bengals good shooting pushed them out in front where they would stay. Buffalo State steals the win, 75-65, outscoring Brockport 18-8 in overtime.
 
The Golden Eagles outrebounded Buffalo State 56-51 and had three fewer turnovers in the loss. However, the hosting Bengals had a significant advantage in the free throw and 3-point shooting lines. Brockport had four double-digit scorers and Buffalo State had three reach double-digits.
 
Katie Villarni led Buffalo State, nearing a triple-double with 18 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds. Brianna Smith finished with 15 points, while James Taylor had 11 points and eight rebounds. The Bengals improve to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
 
The Golden Eagles will enter 2022 off to a 7-3 start with an even 2-2 record against SUNYAC foes. They will play the first of three straight home games on January 5th, when Alfred State comes to town for a 2 pm start.
