The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team got the new year started right with a convincing 75-51 victory over visiting Oneonta in SUNYAC Conference plat at home Friday night.
Anna Felice played in her first action since mid-November and did not miss a beat, netting a game-high 20 points while dishing out five assists for the Golden Eagles.
Erin Nolan netted Brockport's first seven points of the contest and finished the day with 11 points and three boards. 75 total points marked a season-high for the Golden Eagles.
Brockport has now won two of its last three and improved its record to 8-3 overall and 3-2 in league play. Oneonta snapped a three-game winning streak and saw its record fall to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play. Brockport also snapped a six-game losing streak against Oneonta that dated back to 2017.
Serena Sordetto has provided an excellent spark of the bench for Brockport, and she scored in double figures for the third straight contest. She is averaging 14.0 points per game in her last three outings.
Brockport jumped out to convincing 28-13 lead in the first quarter, led by nine first quarter points from Nolan. Sordetto added six points in the first 10 minutes of the contest, while Felice chipped in with five. The Golden Eagles were 10-for-16 from the floor in the first 10 minutes of action to earn the convincing 13 point advantage early in the contest.
Oneonta opened the second quarter on a 7-0 run to make it a ball game. The Golden Eagles were able to outscore the visitors 12-10 in the final 7:42 of the second quarter to take a ten point lead at the half, 40-30.
Brockport remained hot in the third quarter and shot 9-of-16 from the floor in the ten-minute stretch. Felice and
Kylee Rosbrook combined for 11 third quarter points and the Golden Eagles led by 16 headed into the fourth and final quarter.
The Golden Eagles did not let off the gas in the fourth and held the Red Dragons to just four points and 1-of-9 shooting from the floor in the stretch to seal the key conference victory.
Rosbrook netted nine points and added a game-high eight rebounds to go along with two blocks. She ranks second on the team with an average of 5.6 rebounds per contest. She added two blocks and has a team-best 11 this season.
Hali Lucia posted eight points on 2-of-4 shooting from behind the arc.
Zoe Zutes posted six points, while
Erin Radack added four of her own.
Nicole Leslie and
Molly Mahony each added two points.
Three players scored in double figures to lead the way for Oneonta. Olivia Dobrovosky led the way for the Red Dragons with 15, while Jenn Harclerode added 11 and Megan Palmatier chipped in with 10. Molly Stephens led Oneonta with seven rebounds.
The Golden Eagles complete the SUNYAC weekend set at home on Saturday when they host New Paltz for a league contest at 2 p.m. Live video and stats for all Brockport home games are available at
