Rosbrook and Sordetto Lead the Way in Win Over Oswego


Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team bounced back on Saturday with a 66-54 win over Oswego at home. Kylee Rosbrook led the way with a season-high 24 points as the Golden Eagles improve to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
 
Rosbrook led all scorers with 24 points on 11-for-20 shooting from the field. Serena Sordetto came in off the bench and finished with a career-high 18 points, going a perfect 10-for-10 at the foul line. Sordetto was close to a double-double, as she also snagged eight rebounds.
 
Despite having slow scoring nights, Erin Radack and Molly Mahony made strong contributions elsewhere in the box score. Radack dished out a career-high 12 assists, while Mahony came down with a season-best 13 boards. Mahony also added four steals, four assists, and two blocks.
 
Brockport had a strong scoring performance to start the game, taking a 19-16 lead after the first quarter. Kylee Rosbrook was perfect from the field, scoring nine points in the first. The visiting Lakers would bounce back in the second, outscoring Brockport 14-8 in the period. Oswego held a 30-27 edge going into the mid-game break.
 
Rosbrook added seven more points in the third quarter to help push the Golden Eagles into the lead. They outscored Oswego, 18-11, in the period to take a 45-41 lead going into the final quarter. Sordetto put up 10 points in the fourth to help lead Brockport to its highest scoring period of the day and secure the 12-point victory.
 
Brockport outrebounded Oswego, 47-35, and had six fewer turnovers in the game. The squad dominated in the painted area with 36 points in the paint compared to just 14 by the Lakers. The Golden Eagles were effective in transition both offensively and defensively, outscoring Oswego 20-4 in fast break points.
 
The Lakers are now 3-6 overall and 0-3 in the SUNYAC after the loss on Saturday. They had three double-digit scorers in Danielle Caivana, Shania Iglesias, and Chastin Giles. Shania Iglesias notched a double-double with team-highs of 16 points and 11 boards.
 
The Golden Eagles are on the road next weekend for their final game of the 2021 calendar year. They take on Buffalo State at 5:30 pm on Friday, December 10th for another SUNYAC battle.
